What is ADHD?
Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder is a condition that involves differences in an individual's ability to pay attention to things (being inattentive), or differences in an individual's energy levels and their ability to control impulses (being hyperactive and impulsive).
Most people with ADHD will have both the inattentive and hyperactive-impulsive type, while some individuals only show Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder symptoms of one type.
ADHD does not have a known cause, though some suspect it may be caused by genetic differences and often runs in families. Other things linked to ADHD is being born premature (before 37 weeks of pregnancy), having epilepsy, having a brain injury, or being autistic.
