It's time for Occupational Therapists to show some muscle

Reflecting on OT Week 2024 – recognising the power of occupational therapy, and an Occupational Therapist’s place in health and social care.
Move aside gym-goers, there's some new muscle in town!
We're only joking of course, but the power of Occupational Therapists seriously shouldn't be messed with.
November 4th to 10th was OT Week in the UK, and Krysalis worked up a sweat making sure we called attention to the importance of occupational therapy throughout the week.
Before, I felt that I was using a tiny percentage of my skillset and not really helping people as much as I could. Whereas at Krysalis, I feel like I'm really flexing my occupational therapy muscles and growing them.

We got involved across our socials throughout the week, expressing our love for occupational therapy, and highlighting the power of Occupational Therapists and their place in health and social care, and society.
We had conversations about why Occupational Therapists love what they do, what occupations are, and the occupations that are important to us.
We also shared success stories from past clients, and stories from our Occupational Therapists about their careers, focussing on how important and powerful occupational therapy is.
And away from socials, our Occupational Therapists started a 'clinical snippets' series amongst themselves, where they plan to reccommend useful resources to one another each week. From a book, podcast, article, or webinar, they want to start discussing the things they find clinically interesting to help each other learn and grow.
By working proactively with people where they are, we will empower them to manage their changing needs and reduce pressure on the NHS and the wider health and care stystem.

Our Occupational Therapists and office team also got involved with celebrating OT Week with our "What does the power of OT mean to you?" board.
Over the week our team took their expert insights to the board. The array of answers are both moving and uplifting.
Off socials, we also discussed the history of OT, and how this little-known profession has grown over the years, ever evolving to what it is now from it's conception in Ancient Greek times. You can find out all about the history of OT here.
Across the country, campaigns were being run by Occupational Therapists, healthcare organisations, and community groups to raise the profile of occupational therapy and OT Week itself, and it was a delight to see the power of OT being shouted about in both online and in person events.
The Royal College of Occupational Therapists have a workforce plan in place to continue raising the profile of occupational therapy, and you can find out more in our pre-OT Week article.
And now that OT Week has come to a close, we want to say thank you to all Occupational Therapists across the world for all their continued hard work and passion towards the profession.
At Krysalis, our Occupational Therapists are supported and valued no matter what time of year, whether there's an event shouting about OT or not! We realise potential and transform lives.
