The case studies showing outcomes in neuro occupational therapy

The most powerful way to understand the impact of neurological occupational therapy is through real stories.
At Krysalis, we believe that behind every referral is a person who's adapting to change, rebuilding their confidence, and working towards a life that feels meaningful again - whether that's returning to work, managing their day-to-day routines, or learning new ways to realise their potential.
Talking heads was created to share these stories, and our case studies hold a particularly important place within our publication.
Through these case studies, we can offer practical examples of how tailored intervention of neurological occupational therapy and vocational rehabilitation can make a genuine difference to individuals' lives.
Why do we share case studies?
We know that no two individuals experience a brain injury, neurological condition, or a neurodivergent diagnosis the same way. A person's symptoms, challenges, and goals are deeply personal, and our neurological occupational therapists tailor intervention to suit each individual's needs.
Our case studies offer a window into what recovery can look like with neurological occupational therapy for people going through something similar. They highlight how progress is tracked not in milestones, but in the moments that matter most to the individual - returning to the activities that they want, need, or like to do.
We do make a difference every day. Sometimes it's a small shift to help a beneficiary manage their symptoms; other times it's supporting a person through major challenges. Those moments - big or small - remind me why this work matters.

Neuro occuaptional therapy in action
Claire, a dedicated mother, encountered sudden changes in emotion and behaviour after experiencing encephalitis. These behaviours affected her family life, and her responsibilities at home.
With support from Krysalis, Claire learned to understand her symptoms and develop strategies to manage them, leading her to rebuild her relationships and regain a sense of control at home.

Peter's journey highlights the importance of work in recovery. After three strokes, Peter was determined to return to his employment that he loved. Neurological occupational therapist, Anna, focused on understanding his symptoms in the context of work readiness - helping him pace himself, build confidence, and gradually re-engage him with meaningful tasks both in and outside of work.

Esther's experience is a testament of perseverance. As a business professional, she faced challenges with memory and fatigue after her brain injury that affected her role. She was no longer able to keep up with her fast-paced life.
Neurological occupational therapy helped her recognise her strengths, adapt her routines, and maintain her professional identity in a more sustainable way that respected her boundaries.
Discover why recovery is not about returning to "how things were" in Esther's story.
The teaching, the tools, the techniques. Around boundaries, balancing the day, taking breaks, and really understanding what was going on. That was important to me.
