Keir Harding heads Elizabeth Casson Memorial Lecture 2023

Make haste to meet complex mental health expert Keir Harding at the prestigious 2023 Elizabeth Casson Memorial Lecture.

Keir will be sharing his occupational therapy experience of working with distressed individuals and the well-being benefits of supportive environments during the online event.

I look forward to delivering something that reflects Elizabeth Casson’s pioneering spirit in a way that champions the essential work we do.

Keir Harding

Clinical Lead at Beam Consultancy, Keir has worked in mental health with the NHS for two decades.

During that time, he spent eight years in specialist Personality Disorder Services as part of teams that won acclaim with an NHS Wales award in 2010 and a 2016 shortlisting.

He currently serves on the executive committee for the British and Irish Group for the Study of Personality Disorder.

And, as an exponent of alternatives to hospitalisation for people who self-harm and are chronically suicidal, Keir developed Day Therapeutic Communities and is a Dialectical Behaviour Therapist.

He has also published literature, writes a successful blog on issues linked to mental health and complex disorders, and is an expert author for The National Elf Service [1], an accessible evidence-based research site for health and social care professionals.

Keir’s lecture, ‘Nothing grows in toxic environments’ will be followed by a Q&A at the event, hosted by the Royal College of Occupational Therapists (RCOT).

The annual lecture is in memory of ‘risk taker and boundary breaker’ [2] Elizabeth Casson, who opened the UK’s first school of occupational therapy in Bristol in 1930.

The lectureship is gifted every year to one person deemed by peers to significantly contribute to the occupational therapy profession.

Attend the live-streamed lecture for free on Thursday, the 27th of April, from 6.30pm to 8pm by registering here: [3]
