We bring fresh thinking to Neurological Occupational Therapy.

Our service is tailored to meet the unique needs of individuals living throughout the UK with a brain injury or a neurological condition.

Our experience of working within this specialism means that we are undaunted by the complexities of a diagnosis and any presentations.

We can identify the barriers to independence, including physical limitations, cognitive and executive limitations, and behavioural and sensory presentations. These challenges can have a significant impact on an individual and those people around them, affecting an ability to achieve goals, and family and work life.

We know that complex situations need a specific approach and understand that whilst clinical experience and knowledge of a condition is essential, life changing progress is sparked by a combination of experience, commitment and creativity.

Krysalis has a long history of providing high quality occupational therapy rehabilitation. We are a trusted brand within the market place having established positive relationships with clients, case managers, solicitors and the insurance industry, as well as charities, residential care providers, NHS Trusts and Local Authorities.

We pride ourselves on operating in an accountable, honest and open manner, meaning that you can feel confident in our ability to deliver.

It is about understanding life after illness or injury with all its light and shade - not being afraid to tackle it head on and being open to change. We are here to help our clients recognise who they really are; what they could be and should be.

Navigating the journey

Occupational Therapy is an essential component to helping individuals live with the complexities of a neurological condition. However access to private rehabilitation is influenced by the context in which it was requested.

Regardless of how rehabilitation is funded, we have a clear understanding of the requirements of each pathway, whether an individual is self-funding their rehabilitation, are involved in a medico-legal claim or if occupational therapy is being funded by an external body.

Our innovative service design is structured to ensure that our clinical team are supported in their role by our office administration team. These systems and processes ensures that the momentum of rehabilitation is maintained for as long as occupational therapy is required.
Our documentation is of high quality and is shared, with consent, in a timely manner to ensure that individuals, support workers, case managers, employers and other professionals can act on recommendations and advice given by the Occupational Therapist.
Our systems and audit processes ensure that we are always held accountable for the quality of our service, the documentation we produce and safeguarding individual’s data and welfare.
Our friendly and approachable office administration team are available to support with questions and queries when required, and out of office support is provided when needed in emergency situations by an on-call duty manager.

Krysalis is confident in navigating our clients through the rehabilitation process and committed to delivering a friendly and approachable service to every client.

Two roads diverged in a wood, and I, I took the one less travelled by. And that has made all the difference.

Concentrating on your unique needs

The differences seen in each and every one of us make us all unique. Understanding and harnessing our individual qualities and motivating factors, acknowledging core beliefs and what we value, is the key to achieving our goals regardless of disability.

We take time to listen, to gain insights into what is important, to explore strengths and weaknesses.  We help to facilitate those difficult conversations, to acknowledge loss, but at the same time help to come to a new understanding about what is possible.

Our service is innovative and dynamic and we bring ‘fresh thinking’ to neurological occupational therapy. We use innovative assessment and treatment approaches to structure intervention. We recognise that change is hard, but when embraced, it is possible to approach the future with hope and optimism.

Occupational Therapy Assessment and Review Process

Our assessment and review process is designed to ensure that occupational therapy intervention is comprehensive and effective.

An accident or illness can impact significantly on an individual’s ability to complete the daily activities that we take for granted.

At Krysalis, we use an evidence based and occupation focused model within our day-to-day practice that has been subjected to nearly four decades of scientific inquiry and research. This framework allows the Occupational Therapist to assess and analyse how a person engages in their day-to-day occupation with both their body and mind as a result of the interaction between a number of elements.

Motivation

Motivation

The incentive that drives us to believe what we are capable of doing.
Routine

Routine

The custom of choosing how we spend our time doing what we want to or need to do.
Habits

Habits

The practice that helps form the day-to-day lifestyle choices we make.
Abilities

Abilities

The physical and cognitive skills required to complete an activity to our best ability.
Environment

Environment

The space around us; where we live and spend our time.

The approach, when combined with detailed neurological assessments and functional observations, focuses on facilitating change from within and provides a structure to understand the individual and the view they have of their world and their place within it.

This helps the Occupational Therapist with the production on appropriate coping strategies and effective occupational therapy interventions.

What others say about us

  • I am always so impressed by the therapist’s commitment to and ongoing understanding of Claire and her situation. I am sure the rest of the family will share my thoughts so please pass on our heartfelt thanks to the therapy team when you next see them. Sister of brain injury survivor
  • I just wanted to drop you a line to say, whenever I call the office, Claire, in particular, is always very charming and efficient. She is a good representative of your company and has a nice phone manner and a good approach to customer service. So, thank you Claire. Mother of brain injury survivor
  • The following will never be enough to illustrate Paul’s journey but we are eternally grateful to the NHS, IM, ILS, Krysalis and the whole infrastructure that has been created for Paul. Yes, Paul is focused, determined and driven but the whole team have created a rehabilitation environment that has changed our life and Pauls future, they have made the thought of life and rehabilitation, turn from the impossible to the possible. Brother of brain injured survivor
  • The thought of having the family undertake this journey alone seems impossible and we will be always grateful. We all recognise that James is still on the rehabilitation journey, but there is no stopping him. He has just walked to Mum’s & Dad’s on his own (phone first to say he’s on his way)... what a way to celebrate the 2-year journey.Brother of brain injured survivor
  • I highly recommend Krysalis Consultancy OT services. Anna has been our life line since she came on board to help my husband following his brain injury. He has improved greatly thanks to Anna’s input in assisting him to become independent, teaching him step by step the simple things which we all take for granted. Anna is there for us 100%, teaching us both strategies to enable us to achieve better results.Wife of brain injured survivor
  • Just a short note to thank you very much for your hard work and persistence over the last few months, your guidance has undoubtedly helped and taken the pressure off me (I have benefited from the sessions greatly). I am really encouraged by the last few weeks and optimistic that if Peter keeps working at it he will continue to make good progress.Brother of brain injured survivor
