"Man, through the use of his hands, as they are energised by mind and will, can influence the state of his own health". Reilly (1962)
Krysalis’ model of assessment is based on sound knowledge of neurological processes and medical conditions, and there is a clear awareness of required outcome from the assessment. The assessment process is designed to obtain a clear picture of the individual’s neurological impairments and deficits within a holistic framework. Therapists are as knowledgeable in physical difficulties as much as the cognitive and behavioural impact of the neurological injury
Krysalis Occupational Therapists are specialists in the following areas:

- Agreeing individual goals and designing tailored rehabilitation programmes to maximise functional independence.
- Undertaking intervention within the client's home, addressing effects of physical, cognitive, social and behavioural difficulties.
- Assessing potential to return to employment and devising return to work programmes.
- Advising on seating, wheelchairs and other equipment provision.
- Teaching independent living skills.
- Working with families / carers to provide advice and education and formulating client specific care plans.
- Can undertake a variety of specialist techniques as indicated, including functional electrical stimulation, neurological splinting, and cognitive rehabilitation therapy.
Specialist Neurological Occupational Therapists aim to maximise an individual's potential, restore lost skills and provide clients with the abilities to re-adjust to life following trauma or illness.
Using a client centred approach Occupational Therapy intervention is based around specific individual goals. These goals are reviewed regularly with the client and their care team, family or multi-disciplinary team.
Specific outcome measures are used during sessions to provide detailed information on a client's abilities and needs. This allows the Occupational Therapist to provide a baseline for treatment and monitor the effectiveness of the intervention.
